About

Are you meeting the EMI/RFI threshold for your tool?

We measure and simulate every possible EMI/RFI threat and then design a solution specifically for your research tools. Guaranteed.

When data is your only currency, integrity is everything.
Our responsibility to our clients that conduct scientific research is to guarantee that their research tools always run at maximum resolution, optimum performance, and long-term stability for the lifetime of the tool. A baseline electromagnetic field survey of ambient magnetic fields affecting the research area is critical in determining tool placement.  Magnetic shielding of microscope rooms may be a necessary step in order to meet tool performance criteria.

Vitatech has developed the most thorough survey and assessment processes in the industry, based on hundreds of diverse challenges we’ve encountered with our many clients around the globe—clients such as MIT, Harvard, Princeton, Columbia, Intel , IBM, and NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology).  Give us a call. We’re happy to serve your organization with the same dedication and precision.

Our Comprehensive EMI/RFI Services

Full- Spectrum EMI/RFI Testing

Full-spectrum DC,AC ELF,RF EMF Surveys & EMI/RFI EMF Testing

Whether it’s an existing lab, building or proposed building footprint, we collect indoor or outdoor baseline measurements for sensitive research equipment. Vitatech tests the following non-ionizing frequencies:

  • Geomagnetic/Static DC electric/magnetic frequency sources from (0 Hz – 10 Hz)
    • Sources Include: geomagnetic, electrified or diesel trains, vehicles, MRIs, NMRs, research/ramping magnets and processing equipment
  • AC ELF (extremely low frequency) electric/magnetic frequency sources from (3 Hz – 3000 Hz)
    • Sources Include: transmission/distribution lines, transformers, switchgears, busways, risers, conduits, panels, subways/trains, electronics, etc.
  • VLF (very low frequency) and LF (low frequency) frequency sources from 3 kHz – 30 kHz
    • Sources Include: electrotechnical equipment, high resolution display systems, florescent lighting systems, etc.
  • RF (radio frequency) electric/magnetic frequency sources from 14 kHz – 26 GHz
    • Source Include: mobile, marine, UHF/VHF, cell/PCS, radar, radio navigation services, government time radio stations, military communication, etc.
  • PQ (power quality) electrical sources (harmonics, voltage/current surges, etc.)

Building Design Support

Vitatech will recommend EMI/RFI design criteria for building sites, laboratories, classrooms, and offices based on the most up to date commercial standards and manufacturer guidelines for electronic and scientific instruments. Additionally, Vitatech extensively reviews site and utility plans and recommends the most suitable placement and “sweet spots” for EMI sensitive laboratories.

To avoid potentially destructive EMI emissions, grounding plans are analyzed for potential ground loop and plumbing current magnetic emissions.

We present prudent lab recommendations for minimizing building steel magnetization to maximize the amount of usable research space.

And we don’t stop there…

Setback guidelines for all electrical and electromechanical distribution services are provided to contractors, tradesmen, and facilities to assist with maintaining a low EMI environment during and post construction.

We support our mitigation recommendations through commissioning testing. Guaranteed.

Lab Support for Fit-Outs

For laboratory fit-outs, we will review electrical, lighting, plumbing and HVAC design and provide feedback and recommendations for placement of electrical and electromechanical systems including UPS systems, large electric motors (HVAC fans, pumps, etc.), variable speed controllers and electromechanical devices within laboratories.

Vitatech is capable of testing and assessing the EMI impact from lighting and fan coil units within our facility.

EMF/RFI Mitigation

Detection, Control & Mitigation

Vitatech designs and installs cost effective and practical magnetic field solutions in order to achieve optimum performance and long-term stability for the lifetime of the tool. EMI/RFI mitigation solutions include:

  • Magnetic Shielding – reduces emissions from electrical sources and equipment with highly conductive magnetic shielding materials
  • Magnetic Field Cancellation System – custom engineered three-axis magnetic field canceling system
  • Setback Guidelines define safe limits and distances from EMF/RF sources, also known as prudent avoidance
