Cooper University Hospital

The Cooper University Hospital has offered the latest in all medical technology since 1887 and has been a huge staple in the Camden, NJ Community. In 2012, the ground was broken for an up-to-date addition – the Cooper Cancer Institute. Designed by Francis Cauffman, the tri-level center includes radiation oncology, phlebotomy, mammography center, healing gardens, conference centers and a cafe.

Vitatech was retained by Francis Cauffman to assess the potential EMI sources such as electrical distribution rooms, transformers, and passenger and freight elevators. Vitatech analyzed switchgear and electrical room locations and predicted transformer and switchgear decay rates anticipated at specific distances.

Between 2011-2013, Vitatech designed, fabricated and installed magnetic shielding inside two main electrical rooms to minimize the EMF impact from the panel ATI’s and distribution panels and equipment in close proximity to patients and staff.
